Balmain Genius makes it possible for digital audiences to enjoy customized service when browsing and shopping at the website of Balmain. This system is inspired from Genius of ITunes application except that it exists for fashion consumers and it is web-based(ITune Genius is an application-based system and it is available for music listeners). Also, The role of ITune Genius is only to connect users to music as a intermediator not the charge of music production. However, Balmain creates its products itself and has a friendly web-stylist called ‘Balmain Genius’ that effectively links consumers to its product. An increasing number of ITune users use Genius to get recommendations for music, to have their own playlist and it picks the right music by analyzing users’ taste. Frequent users of ITune Genius stated that Genius has highly improved their enviroment of listening music and it made them able to find taste-oriented music with great time reduction. Because the system keeps linking users with customzied music, They keep finding what they want one after another and it leds them to purchase the music or to choose ITunes paid subscription. Which can directly connects to the demand of artists and Apple company. For Balmain’s case, the entire demand goes to Balmain since it is a producer and a intermediator at the same time.
Imagine this technology merge with a fashion platform, it will give a consumer recommendations for style, let her have her own digital closet and will pick her the right items by analyzing her taste. Much like music, nowadays, there is a big flood of fashion brands and items. Therefore consumers, especially who are not familiar with fashion nor styling themselves are confused and tired of browsing tons of non-interested items. So they give up easily or end up just buying ‘suitable’ clothes. As the technology develops, consumers want faster and easier way to get what they want and if not, they will choose another option. In other words, the company will loose clients and unable to sell items for not having an up-to-date system eventhough it has great products. However, this Balmain Genius system will provide customized service so that consumers can easily get what they want guided by a professional web-stylist with a shorter time but with a fun experience.
